Adult Pointe Program
Adult Ballet Centre’s Adult Pointe Program in Melbourne is designed for adult dancers who are ready to progress with strength, technical care, and expert guidance.
Progressing to pointe is a meaningful milestone in classical ballet training for adults. At Adult Ballet Centre, our program supports dancers who have already built a strong technical foundation and are ready to advance with care, discipline, and expert guidance.
Pointe work is not simply a new class. It is an extension of sound ballet technique, requiring strength, alignment, balance, control, and consistent training. Our program supports dancers who are ready to take this next step within a structured and professional environment.
The ABC approach
At Adult Ballet Centre, pointe training is approached with the same values that guide all of our programs: excellence, artistry, respect for classical technique, and support for the individual dancer.
Our Adult Pointe Program is designed to help dancers:
build strength and confidence progressively
deepen technical understanding
experience the artistry and discipline of pointe work
progress within a supportive adult training environment
For many adult dancers, pointe is both a technical goal and a personal achievement. We are proud to offer a pathway that honours both.
A carefully guided pathway to pointe
Our Adult Pointe Program is for dancers who are already training consistently and have developed the technical awareness and physical strength required to begin pointe work safely.
To be eligible for pointe at Adult Ballet Centre, dancers are generally required to:
attend at least two ballet classes per week
be training at Level 3 Ballet Progression or above
demonstrate the strength, placement, and control needed for pointe preparation
participate in pointe after a ballet class, in keeping with the traditional structure of classical ballet training
This class order is important. Completing pointe after ballet class ensures the body is properly warmed, aligned, and prepared for the demands of pointe work.
Why pointe readiness matters
Beginning pointe too early can compromise technique and increase the risk of strain, injury and enjoyment. For this reason, entry into the program is based on readiness rather than enthusiasm alone.
Our teachers assess each dancer with care, looking at factors such as:
postural alignment
ankle and foot strength
turnout control
core stability
balance and coordination
consistency of weekly training
This ensures that each dancer enters pointe training at the right time, with the greatest opportunity for success.
