ABC

Studio, Policies and Terms

These Policies, Terms & Conditions apply to bookings, purchases and participation in classes, memberships, programs, coaching, workshops, events, digital offerings and retail items provided by Adult Ballet Centre (“ABC”, “we”, “our”, “us”).

By booking, purchasing, attending or participating in any ABC service, you agree to these terms together with any specific membership terms, event terms, waiver terms, booking conditions and policies presented at the time of purchase or registration.

We may update these terms from time to time, with the current version published on this website.

Participation at ABC

Adult Ballet Centre provides structured adult ballet training and related services within a professional, respectful and supportive studio environment.

Participation is subject to:

  • appropriate level placement and teacher guidance

  • compliance with studio standards and safety requirements

  • compliance with booking, payment and attendance policies

  • any additional terms applying to specific memberships, programs, assessments, events, coaching or products

ABC reserves the right to place, re-place, suspend, decline or limit participation where reasonably necessary for safety, suitability, training standards, operational requirements or the wellbeing of the wider studio environment.

Bookings and payments

Bookings must be made through ABC’s approved booking system or other authorised ABC channels.

Payment is required at the time of booking unless a membership, payment plan or other approved arrangement applies.

All prices are listed in Australian dollars and may be updated from time to time.

Bookings are personal to the named client and may not be transferred, shared or resold unless ABC agrees otherwise in writing.

Class passes and memberships

Class passes, memberships and subscriptions are subject to the inclusions, exclusions, validity periods, renewal terms and notice requirements stated at the time of purchase.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • class passes expire at the end of the stated validity period

  • unused visits are forfeited after expiry

  • memberships operate on the stated recurring billing cycle

  • access is limited to the services included in the relevant pass or membership

  • some classes or programs may require teacher approval

Suspensions, extensions or exceptions are offered only where stated by ABC.

Complimentary trial classes

Complimentary trial classes are available to new adult students only and are limited to one trial per person.

Trials are offered within selected classes and are intended for adults who are genuinely considering ongoing training with ABC.

Trial bookings are:

  • non-transferable

  • not repeatable

  • not able to be cancelled and rescheduled

  • not able to be reissued if missed

If a client is unable to attend a booked trial, they are welcome to attend another time by making a regular class booking directly into the class.

ABC may limit, withdraw or decline trial access at any time.

Timetable changes, cancellations and service adjustments

ABC may make reasonable changes to teachers, timetable, studio allocation, class format, program structure or service delivery where required for operational, artistic, staffing or safety reasons.

If ABC cancels a class, service or booking, the available remedy will depend on the circumstances and may include a replacement class, transfer, credit, refund, resupply or another appropriate remedy.

Client cancellation windows, late cancellation settings and no-show rules are governed by the booking conditions and membership settings in effect at the time of booking.

Refunds, credits and consumer rights

ABC may offer credits, transfers, or other remedies in accordance with the relevant service terms, product conditions and Australian Consumer Law.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the consumer guarantees that apply to services. Under Australian Consumer Law, services carry guarantees including due care and skill, fitness for disclosed purpose, and supply within a reasonable time where no time is fixed.

Change-of-mind refunds are not offered unless ABC states otherwise for a particular service, event or product.

Health, safety and participation responsibility

Dance, conditioning, pointe work, rehearsal, performance preparation and related physical activity involve inherent physical risk.

By participating, clients agree to:

  • take responsibility for working within their own capacity

  • advise ABC of any injury, medical condition, pregnancy or limitation relevant to safe participation

  • follow teacher directions and studio safety requirements

  • stop and seek appropriate advice if they experience pain, injury, illness, dizziness or other concern

ABC may refuse, pause or limit participation where reasonably necessary for safety or suitability.

Participation in pointe work, advanced classes and certain specialist programs may require assessment or teacher approval.

Liability and waivers

ABC provides recreational services. Separate waivers, acknowledgements, risk notices and participation terms may apply before attendance or purchase.

Where ABC seeks to rely on any limitation of liability permitted for recreational services under Victorian law, the required notice must be given before the consumer agrees to buy, and first-time use must follow the exact prescribed wording required by Consumer Affairs Victoria. This website page is a summary only and does not replace the formal waiver or statutory notice used in ABC’s booking and participation process.

Studio standards and conduct

ABC is committed to a respectful adult learning environment.

Clients are expected to behave in a manner that supports safety, dignity, inclusion, professionalism and the positive experience of others.

ABC may suspend, cancel or refuse attendance, membership or participation where conduct is unsafe, abusive, disruptive, inappropriate, repeatedly non-compliant, or inconsistent with the standards and culture of the studio.

Personal property

Clients are responsible for their own personal belongings.

To the extent permitted by law, ABC is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property unless caused by ABC’s negligence or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Photography and video

ABC may photograph or record classes, rehearsals, performances, events or studio activities for educational, archival, community or promotional purposes.

Where required, consent will be sought through the relevant registration, waiver, event terms or media release process.

Clients who do not wish to be included in content where consent is being requested should notify ABC in writing before the relevant class or event.

Separate media or performance terms may apply.

Digital products, events and retail items

Digital products, online offerings, gift certificates, workshops, special events, retail items and limited-offer purchases may be subject to additional terms stated at the point of sale.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • digital purchases are for personal use only

  • access rights may not be shared, copied or redistributed

  • event bookings may be subject to event-specific cancellation terms

  • gift certificates are subject to their stated validity and conditions

Nothing in these terms limits any rights that apply under Australian Consumer Law.

Privacy and communications

ABC may collect and use personal information for bookings, attendance records, account administration, payment processing, safety, communications and service delivery.

Some small businesses are covered by the Privacy Act and some are not; coverage can depend on the nature of the business and how personal information is handled. Small businesses can also opt in. If ABC is covered, or elects to opt in, personal information should be handled consistently with the applicable privacy obligations.

Transactional communications relating to bookings, memberships, account activity and purchased services form part of ABC’s service delivery. Marketing communications are managed separately and can be opted out of where required.
