Find Your Adult Ballet Level
Find the right place to begin - or return - within the ABC Adult Ballet Training Pathway.
Adult Ballet Centre® offers a structured classical ballet pathway created specifically for adults, from complete beginners and returning dancers through to intermediate and advanced training.
Your starting level is based on your current ballet experience, technical understanding and confidence, not your age, body type or how many years ago you last danced.
Whether you are stepping into a ballet studio for the first time or returning after many years away, we will help you find a level where you can train confidently, progress safely and continue developing.
The ABC Adult Ballet Training Pathway
Adult Ballet Centre training is organised across six levels within three progressive stages — Steady, Strength and Soar.
Each stage provides a clear next step while allowing adult dancers the time needed to develop strength, coordination, technique, musicality and confidence.
STEADY
Levels 1 & 2 — Beginner Adult Ballet
For adults beginning classical ballet, rebuilding foundations, or returning after an extended break.
Steady introduces ballet progressively and supports dancers as they develop vocabulary, alignment, coordination and confidence within a traditional classical class structure.
Steady may be right for you if:
You have never taken a ballet class before
You have limited previous ballet experience
You danced when you were younger but have been away for many years
You would like to rebuild your foundations before moving into more demanding training
You want clear instruction in an adult-only environment
Level 1 — Introduction to Classical Ballet
For absolute beginners learning ballet for the first time.
Level 2 — Foundation Beginners
For dancers consolidating the foundations and progressing into a complete classical ballet class.
STRENGTH
Levels 3 & 4 — Developing Adult Ballet
For adult dancers who have established the foundations of classical ballet and are ready for greater technical development, consistency and challenge.
Strength develops greater fluency through barre and centre work while introducing more complex coordination, pirouettes, allegro, adage, musicality and stamina.
Strength may be right for you if:
You understand fundamental ballet terminology
You are comfortable with the structure of a classical ballet class
You can work confidently at the barre and through basic centre exercises
You are training consistently and want greater technical refinement
You are ready for increasingly complex combinations and vocabulary
Level 3 — Ballet Progression
For dancers developing technical fluency, coordination and greater consistency.
Level 4 — Classical Development
For established dancers refining precision, stamina and control in preparation for intermediate training.
SOAR
Levels 5 & 6 — Intermediate & Advanced Adult Ballet
For experienced adult dancers with an established classical foundation who are ready for increased complexity, speed, stamina and artistic depth.
Soar brings together refined technique, musical responsiveness and performance quality through intermediate and advanced classical ballet training.
Soar may be right for you if:
You have substantial previous classical ballet training
You are confident learning longer and more complex combinations
You have established centre, turning, adage and allegro vocabulary
You are comfortable working at an intermediate or advanced pace
You want to continue developing technique, artistry and performance quality
Level 5 — Intermediate Classical Ballet
For experienced dancers progressing into more complex classical vocabulary and artistic refinement.
Level 6 — Advanced Classical Ballet
For advanced adult dancers seeking continued technical development, complexity and deeper artistry.
