Adult Ballet Assessment Program: Adult Ballet Centre
The AICD Adult Ballet Assessment Program offers adult dancers a rare and rewarding opportunity to deepen their classical ballet training within a structured, supported, and purposeful pathway.
This program is for dancers who want more than attendance, it is for those who want to develop real technical clarity, strength, musicality, and confidence, and to see their progress take shape over time.
At the Adult Ballet Centre, the AICD pathway is thoughtfully woven into our teaching methodology. By combining the internationally respected AICD framework with ABC’s refined approach to adult ballet training, this program delivers meaningful, measurable development while nurturing your passion for classical ballet.
Many dancers describe this pathway as the moment their training truly connects when technique becomes clearer, movement more confident, and progress more tangible.

AICD Pathway Levels
Duration: 16 weeks
Class length: 75 minutes
Program includes:
ABC Internal Assessment
External AICD Examination
Guidance and support from your ABC teaching team on assessment day
This 16-week structure is intentionally designed to allow time for skills to settle, strength to develop, and confidence to grow, without rush or pressure.
-
To gain the full benefit of the AICD program, participants train within a consistent weekly rhythm that supports physical development and technical retention.
AICD dancers attend open classes in addition to AICD classes, ensuring well-rounded training and strength development.
Two or more classes per week is strongly recommended and is where dancers see the most significant and satisfying progress.
At the conclusion of the program, dancers who meet the requirements may progress to the next level.
Placement is guided by the Adult Ballet Centre AICD Coordinator, ensuring dancers continue at the most appropriate level for success.
This is a program where making time is rewarded, the consistency you bring directly reflects the clarity and confidence you gain.
-
Regular attendance is essential to building momentum and achieving a positive assessment experience. Each class builds on the last, allowing technique to strengthen progressively and confidently.
Participants who miss more than two AICD program classes, or who are frequently absent from regular open classes without valid reasons, may not be eligible to proceed to the assessment period or advance to the next level.
This guideline is not about pressure, it exists to protect your experience. Dancers who attend consistently feel more prepared, more confident, and more connected to their training, while extended absences often interrupt progress and enjoyment.
If unexpected circumstances arise, private coaching sessions with an AICD teacher are available at the participant’s own cost and can support continuity where appropriate.
Our aim is for this program to feel motivating, uplifting, and deeply rewarding, producing results that dancers are proud of with advancement of their classical ballet technique and knowledge.
If you’re unsure whether this level of commitment fits your current schedule, we’re always happy to talk it through with you before enrolling.

The AICD Adult Ballet Assessment Program is a specialised, limited-place program. Once enrolment is confirmed, fees are allocated toward teaching, administration, program planning, examiner arrangements, and the participant’s place in the program.
Program fees are not refundable for change of mind, scheduling conflicts, withdrawal, non-attendance, missed classes, or failure to meet attendance or assessment eligibility requirements
If a participant becomes unable to continue due to illness or injury, and provides a valid medical certificate, Adult Ballet Centre may, at its discretion, offer a 40% credit toward a future AICD examination period or approved class program.
Credits are not redeemable for cash, are non-transferable, and must be used within the timeframe confirmed by Adult Ballet Centre.
Missed classes are not refunded, transferred, or credited. Where appropriate, participants may arrange optional private coaching at their own cost to support continuity.
-
Adult Ballet Centre reserves the right to make reasonable changes to program scheduling, teachers, assessment preparation, or delivery arrangements where required for operational, staffing, safety, or educational reasons.
Where possible, participants will be notified of any material changes in advance.
-
Progression to the next AICD level is not automatic. Placement is guided by the Adult Ballet Centre AICD Coordinator and teaching team, based on regular class attendance, technical readiness, confidence, physical safety, and suitability for the next level of training.
This ensures each dancer is supported in the level where they are most likely to succeed.
