Adult Ballet Centre is delighted to welcome Marcus Morelli, Principal Artist with The Australian Ballet, for an exclusive day of masterclasses designed specifically for adult ballet dancers and advanced students.
This special event offers a rare opportunity to learn from one of Australia's leading classical ballet artists through a series of inspiring and educational classes tailored to a range of experience levels.
Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to experience Marcus's approach to classical technique, artistry, musicality and performance while gaining valuable insights from his professional career with The Australian Ballet.
Masterclasses will be offered across Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, ensuring dancers can participate in a class appropriate to their training and experience.
The day will also include dedicated Q&A sessions and group photographs, providing dancers with the opportunity to connect with Marcus and learn more about his journey through the professional ballet world.

Masterclass with Susan Sargison
We are delighted to announce a very special daytime masterclass opportunity at Adult Ballet Centre on Monday 20 April 2026 with Susan Sargison.
Susan brings an exceptional depth of experience to ABC, with professional training through the Australian Ballet School, performance experience with the Australian Ballet Company, Victorian State Opera, Heidelberg Ballet Ensemble, and Rex Reid Ballet Company, along with an extensive career in teaching, adjudication, and examination both in Australia and internationally. She is also a Royal Academy of Dance Examiner and has worked for many years across ballet education, performance, and assessment.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our daytime dancers to learn from a teacher and artist with such a rich professional background. Experiences like this help broaden a dancer’s understanding, deepen artistic awareness, and bring fresh insight into classical training. We are very pleased to be able to offer this opportunity within the ABC program.

About Susan Sargison
Susan began her performing career at a young age, later training at the Australian Ballet School before going on to perform professionally in productions including Coppélia, Carmen, Giselle, The Three Musketeers, Poems, and City Dances. Her career also extended into musical theatre and commercial performance work in Australia and internationally, including London, Portugal, and Vienna. She later operated her own dance school for 25 years, served as Associate Director of the National Theatre Ballet School from 2018 to 2023, and continues to work as an international examiner, adjudicator, and passionate freelance dance teacher.

Guest Artist,Paul Knobloch — Ballet Master, Choreographer, Performer
Paul Knobloch is a distinguished Australian choreographer, creative director, and ballet répétiteur whose career spans stage, film, and television. An honours graduate of The Australian Ballet School, Paul rose swiftly to the rank of Soloist with The Australian Ballet before joining Béjart Ballet Lausanne in 2009 as a Principal Artist.
His international career has seen him collaborate with many of the world’s most prestigious companies, including English National Ballet, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, West Australian Ballet, and Sydney Dance Company. His repertoire ranges from leading roles in the great classical works to innovative collaborations with contemporary choreographers, demonstrating a rare versatility that bridges tradition and modernity.
As a choreographer, Paul has been critically acclaimed for his originality and vision, with commissions spanning Australia, Europe, Canada, and the United States. In 2019, he brought his creativity to a new audience through an artistic collaboration with The Wiggles, and he continues to contribute fresh perspectives as both performer and choreographer today.
A sought-after teacher and mentor, Paul has been invited to share his expertise with leading companies around the globe, including Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Tokyo Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, and St Petersburg Ballet. Honoured in 2001 as the ACT Young Australian of the Year, Paul has long been recognised for his artistic excellence and dedication to the development of future generations of dancers.
Currently serving as répétiteur with The Australian Ballet for its national tour and Storytime Ballet, Paul combines a deep respect for classical heritage with a commitment to innovation. His masterclasses are renowned for their clarity, artistry, and inspiration — qualities he will bring to the Adult Ballet Centre in this rare and exciting opportunity for our community of adult dancers.

Adult Ballet Masterclass with Damian Smith – Former Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet
Join us on Sunday, 27 October, for an exclusive Adult Ballet Masterclass led by internationally renowned Damian Smith, former Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of our time's most celebrated ballet artists. Open to all adult ballet students, this masterclass will focus on technique, artistry, and the joy of connecting to the adult ballet community.
Class Schedule: Beginners: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Three places remaining ) Learn in-depth ballet technique with a special focus on pirouette mastery. This 2.5-hour session will help you dive deeper into the fundamental aspects of ballet, improving your precision and confidence in turns.
Intermediate/Advanced: 1:30 PM—4:00 PM ( four places remaining) In this 2.5-hour session, immerse yourself in advanced ballet technique and explore the dynamic and fascinating world of male repertoire ( this is open to all genders, not just males). Elevate your skills while working on both technical and artistic aspects of ballet.

Past Event- Masterclass with Former Principal Artist, The Australian Ballet Ty King-Wall
Ty-King Wall former Principal Artist of The Australian Ballet, current Artistic Director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet company
Born in New Zealand, Ty King-Wall trained at The Australian Ballet School after being selected from the New Zealand School of Dance Associate Program. Upon graduating Dux with Honours, he joined The Australian Ballet in 2006 and quickly established himself as one of Australia's most respected classical dancers.
Promoted to Principal Artist in 2013, Ty performed many of the leading roles in the classical and contemporary repertoire, including Swan Lake, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Onegin, Don Quixote and La Bayadère. Renowned for his artistry, strength and elegant technique, he was awarded the Telstra Ballet Dancer Award and enjoyed an acclaimed international career with The Australian Ballet.
Following his retirement from the stage, Ty continued to contribute to the art form as a teacher, mentor and arts leader, later being appointed Artistic Director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Adult Ballet Centre was honoured to welcome Ty King-Wall as a guest artist and share his knowledge, experience and passion for classical ballet with our adult dance community.
