About the Performance Season

A Celebration of Adult Ballet and Dance

The Adult Ballet Centre Performance Season is an annual showcase that brings together dancers from across the ABC community to perform for a warm and supportive audience of family, friends, and fellow dance lovers.

Whether you are a lifelong admirer of ballet or experiencing adult dance performance for the first time, this season offers an opportunity to witness the poise, musicality, discipline, and shared artistry that emerge when adults commit to well-supported dance training.

Classical Ballet Reimagined for Adult Dancers

Rather than presenting traditional full-length repertoire, ABC reimagines classical ballet through expressive ensemble choreography, elegant formations, musical sensitivity, and carefully structured movement.

The classical works draw inspiration from the heritage of ballet while being thoughtfully adapted for adult dancers, alongside original contemporary choreography and ensemble works created specifically for the performance season.

The focus is on:

  • musicality

  • clarity of form

  • ensemble connection

  • confidence in performance

  • artistic enjoyment

This approach allows adult dancers to perform with integrity, support, and presence in a way that honours both tradition and contemporary artistic expression.

What the Performance Program Includes

The 2027 showcase program may include:

  • ensemble ballet works choreographed by Adult Ballet Centre teachers and coaches

  • choreographed class ensembles across multiple levels, including pointe

  • contemporary dance works

  • selected adapted repertoire

  • limited solo opportunities

  • a full défilé celebrating the wider performing community

Each work is created with care so that dancers feel prepared, supported, and able to perform with confidence. Emphasis is placed on musicality, coordination, spatial awareness, and shared performance rather than individual pressure.

A Supportive Performance Experience

The Performance Season is designed to be inspiring, structured, and rewarding for adult dancers.

Rehearsals are progressive and well supported, helping dancers build confidence over time and arrive at the theatre feeling calm, prepared, and connected to the work.

Additional rehearsal classes will be introduced into the timetable in the six weeks leading into the performance season, as reflected in the 2027 schedule.

More Than a Performance

Beyond the stage, the Performance Season is a celebration of community.

It offers adult dancers the opportunity to connect, support one another, and take pride in a shared artistic journey. It reflects Adult Ballet Centre’s belief that ballet and contemporary dance can be experienced with depth, dignity, and beauty at every stage of life.

All dancers who are regularly attending classes at Adult Ballet Centre are warmly invited to participate in the 2027 Performance Season.
